We all stand on the shoulders of giants, and there’s no need to reinvent the wheel when studying the Bible. Below are a number of on-line Catholic resources that may help you as you begin to deepen your understanding of the Scriptures. I have found these helpful to me, and still use many of these when preparing the Liturgical Bible Study that appears on this site.

US Catholic Bishops – New American Bible

The official site of the U.S. Catholic Bishops, it includes a calendar and text for all the Mass readings. It also has the complete text of the New American Bible.

Daily Scripture Readings and Meditations

This site, administered by Don Schwager provides thoughtful meditations on every Scripture reading in the year. It also has good seasonal (Advent, Lent) material.

St. Charles Borromeo Bible Studies

This terrific website which also has many good apologetics and catechetical resources, provides very good Bible Studies for every Sunday and major Feast day of the year.

St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology

This website, from Dr. Scott Hahn, popular theologian, Bible scholar, apologist and famous convert to Catholicism, offers several Bible studies at the beginning, intermediate and advanced levels. It also has many other good resources.

Christian Community Bible – Pastoral Bible Foundation

A lesser known Catholic translation of the Scriptures, this Bible and commentary comes mostly out of a Third World view compared to the one we’re used to. Completely orthodox and very pastoral, it is a nice alternative. This is a link to an on-line version.
